Gravity makes the surface of the ocean flat but it is rarely flat. I am constantly amazed by the water surface elevation changes caused by waves as they move through the ocean, interact with the bathymetry, crest up and break. I like how this sculpture emphasizes these elevation changes with the two ends being so drastically different in height and thrill.
This handmade sculpture belongs to an open edition series. The series has no predetermined limit and will continue to grow with new unique pieces, including more versions of this sculpture. This work is stamped with the year completed, its chronological number in the series, and the artist’s signature on the back.
