When I found this piece of wood I instantly thought of a sperm whale. The old European whalers called them by the Portuguese word "cachalote" meaning big head. The sperm whale is the largest living predator on earth and has amazing specific biology that allows it to dive over a mile deep for over an hour. The arch in this sculpture represents the whale's tale as it swims down to hunt for giant squid.
This handmade sculpture belongs to an open edition series. The series has no predetermined limit and will continue to grow with new unique pieces. This work is stamped with the year completed, its chronological number in the series, and the artist’s signature on the back. This sculpture comes affixed to a complimenting wood base.
