Civil Engineering Project Manager Experience:

23 years of civil engineering experience that includes mass/rough grading and drainage design, roadway improvements, sewer and water infrastructure, and precise grading plan preparation. His management responsibilities include key roles in project coordination with clients, subconsultants and governmental agencies, as well as preparing contract specification documents, cost estimates and performing construction observation and support services. 

 

Engineering Projects:

City of Irvine, Orange County Great Park Sports Complex, Irvine, CA

Mr. Safranek provided civil engineering design and construction support services which included; preparation of rough grading design for the 227 acre site moving over 1 million cubic yards of earth, designed over 4 miles of storm drain infrastructure, 6,000 LF of sewer pipeline, 10,000 LF of water pipeline improvements, and 6 miles of sidewalk and regional trail connections. Mr. Safranek was instrumental in the coordination process with the City, the Water District and the Department of the Navy during the site design and during construction to ensure protection and access to their existing facilities. ASCE Orange County 2019 Project of the Year.


City of Irvine, Bake Parkway/Lake Forest Drive Extensions, Irvine, CA

Mr. Safranek prepared plans for major arterial highway extensions including County of Orange improvement plans for San Diego, Veeh and Veeh Creek Tributary 1 Creeks Drainage Crossings and relocation of 24-inch IRWD recycled water pipeline. Prepared County of Orange Flood Control Facilities Operations and Maintenance manual for the three drainage crossings. Coordinated design of three clear span concrete bridges, relocation of 60  domestic water Tri-Cities domestic water transmission main and 66 KV overhead S.C.E. transmission line relocation. Streamlined transfers of over 30 grant deeds and easement deeds between 6 different entities. Provided construction support services for this ASCE Orange County 2014 Construction Project of the Year.

 

City of Irvine, Irvine Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge at Ridge Valley, Irvine CA

Mr. Safranek provided grading and trail design that was coordinated with steel pedestrian bridge for shared use Class I regional trail connectivity. ASCE Orange County 2017 Outstanding Bridge Project of the Year.

 

City of Irvine, Former Marine Corp El Toro Air Station Runway and Site Demolition, Irvine, CA

Mr. Safranek prepared multiple demolition plans for over 1,200 acres of the site consisting of removing 350 acres of existing runway and over 35 miles of existing infrastructure. Mr. Safranek also coordinated directly with numerous agencies and entities including the Department of the Navy and the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure their critical infrastructure is protected as well as providing the logistics and necessary plans for maintaining and or providing service to essential facilities to remain in operation during demolition operations.
